How does the recommended anime work?
The recommender uses an on-prem ML model (hybrid retrieval + re-ranking) to find similar anime to the chosen seed, taking into account the filters set. Everything happens on the server without sending data to external clouds.
Are my feedback saved?
Feedback (thumb up/down) is only valid for the current session and never persists on the server for anonymous users. With a free account, preferences are saved between different sessions.
Can I use it without choosing an anime seed?
Yes, the seed is optional. Without a seed, the system returns filtered popular recommendations based on your chosen criteria (genre, state, minimum rating).
How many genres can I select?
You can select up to 3 genres simultaneously. Combining multiple genres limits results to those that include all of them.
Where do the data come from?
Data from anime profiles come from MyAnimeList via the Jikan API (an unofficial API with public data). The dataset is updated weekly every Sunday.
