Frequently Asked Questions

How is weighted average grade calculated?

The weighted average is calculated by multiplying each exam grade by its respective credit hours, summing all products and dividing by the total number of credit hours. A 30 score with 9 credits "weighs" more than an 28 with 3 credits.

How do you convert a GPA to a graduation score out of 110?

The official formula is: (weighted average × 110) / 30. For example, an average of 27 out of 30 corresponds to (27 × 110) / 30 = 99 out of 110. The committee can then add additional points (thesis bonus, time bonus, etc.).

Does a 30 cum laude (30L) count differently in the calculation?

No, in the weighted average formula, the 30L is treated as 30. The praise affects the commission bonus and the curriculum praise that some universities consider in the final degree grade.

When do you receive honors for graduation?

The praise (with special mention) is awarded when the final degree mark reaches 110/110 with honors, which requires exceeding the 110 threshold thanks to the commission bonus. This calculator indicates "possible praise" when the estimated final grade ≥ 111.

How is it used?

  1. Add sustained exams

Insert your vote (18-30 or 30L for praise) and CFUs for each passed exam. Use the "Add Exam" button to add more.

  2. Set commission bonus

Bonus commission is the additional score awarded by the committee during graduation session (typically 0-7 points). Enter 0 if you do not know its value.

  3. Calculate Average

Click "Calculate Average" to get the weighted average on 30 and estimate the graduation vote score including the commission bonus.

  4. Interpret your graduation vote

Final degree vote is indicative - the committee can award additional points for thesis, graduation time, and curriculum commendation. A score of 111 or higher indicates that a commendation is possible.
