Accessibility Checker WCAG/AgID + EAA

Free WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA, AgID PA requirements, and European Accessibility Act (EAA D.Lgs. 82/2022) compliance analysis. Enter a public URL to get an automatic gap report on accessibility criteria.

As of June 28, 2025, the EAA Directive 2019/882 is mandatory for private entities as well. PA sites must comply with WCAG 2.1 AA and AgID Guidelines (Law 4/2004). This tool performs an initial automatic analysis of HTML markup, identifying common gaps in categories: images, semantic structure, forms, navigation, ARIA, and links. It does not replace a professional audit with screen readers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA and AgID check for?

WCAG 2.1 AA (W3C 2018) and WCAG 2.2 AA (W3C 2023) are international web accessibility standards organized into four principles (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust). AgID has adopted WCAG 2.1 AA as the mandatory standard for Italian public sector websites with the AGID Guidelines 2022, in accordance with Law 4/2004 (Empty Law).

Is the European Accessibility Act applicable to my site?

Directive EAA 2019/882, received in Italy with DLgs. 82/2022, came into force on June 28, 2025. Applies to digital products and services offered to consumers by private companies: e-commerce, banks, transport operators, publishers, etc. Public Administrations were already obliged by Directive 2016/2102 (received with DLgs. 106/2018). Penalties up to €30,000 for non-compliance (Article 29 DLgs. 82/2022).

What critical gaps does this verifier identify?

The validator automatically checks: images without alt (SC 1.1.1), missing page title (SC 2.4.2), missing lang on html (SC 3.1.1), form fields without label (SC 1.3.1/3.3.2), missing "skip" link (SC 2.4.1), ARIA landmarks (SC 1.3.6), duplicate IDs (SC 4.1.1), missing autocomplete (SC 1.3.5), fixed header and focus (SC 2.4.11 WCAG 2.2), meta viewport (AgID), generic link text (SC 2.4.4), absence of ARIA (EAA). This is a partial and automatic analysis - a complete check requires tests with screen readers and real users.

Does this tool replace a professional accessibility audit?

No. This tool automatically analyzes HTML markup and detects common non-compliance patterns, but it cannot replace a professional screen reader audit (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver), color contrast tests, focus order evaluation, and user testing with people with disabilities. For an AgID certified audit, contact a web accessibility expert.

How does SSRF protection work?

Markup retrieval occurs through a dedicated backend endpoint (not BusinessToolsController) with SSRF guard: only http/https URLs are accepted; private IPs, loopback, and link-local addresses (10.x, 192.168.x, 172.16.x, 127.x, 169.254.x) are blocked; redirects are revalidated hop-by-hop before following; timeout is 10 seconds and body is limited to 1 MB. The browser never directly fetches arbitrary URLs.

What is the EAA expiration for private entities?

The EAA 2019/882 Directive became mandatory for private entities on June 28, 2025. Products placed on the market before this date have a longer transition period. Microenterprises (<10 employees and ≤2M€ turnover) offering services are exempt, but not those producing products. For public bodies, the deadline was earlier: Directive 2016/2102 applied from 2018.

How is it used?

  1. Enter the site URL

Enter the full URL of the website to analyze in the field (e.g., https://www.miaPA.gov.it). The tool retrieves the HTML markup via backend safe SSRF.

  2. Start verification

Click "Accessibility Analysis". The backend retrieves the page and the deterministic engine verifies WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA criteria, AgID PA requirements, and fundamental EAA principles.

  3. Read the Gap Report

The report shows compliance level (Compliant / Partially Compliant / Non-Compliant), score 0-100 and list of issues by severity, with indication of violated criteria (WCAG/AgID/EAA) and suggested correction.

  4. Get AI Gap Summary

After analysis, the AI Boost panel (compliance sector) provides a contextualized summary of critical gaps and intervention priorities, citing regulatory references AgID and the EAA deadline of June 28, 2025.
