Simple Interest Calculator
Calculate simple interest on any amount with the formula I = P x R x T. Find out how much your capital earns based on rate of interest and duration.
Calculation parameters
Insert capital invested, annual interest rate and investment duration.
Insert principal amount, rate and duration to calculate simple interest.
Come utilizzare Calcolatore Interesse Semplice

Domande frequenti
What is the simple interest formula?
Interest is calculated as: I = P x r x t, where P is the principal, r is the annual rate (in decimals) and t is the time in years. The total amount is M = P + I. For example, $10,000 at 3% for 5 years: I = $10,000 x 0.03 x 5 = $1,500.
What is the difference between simple and compound interest?
In simple interest, interest is calculated on the initial capital. In compound interest, matured interest is reinvested and generates its own interest ("interest on interest"). The compounded produces higher returns over time.
When is simple interest used?
Simple interest is used for short-term loans, high-yielding postal savings accounts, some deposit accounts, and calculating late interest fees. For long-term investments, compound interest is generally used.
Is the rate gross or net?
The calculator uses the gross rate entered. In Italy, interest is subject to tax withholding: 26% for deposit accounts and private bonds, 12.5% for state bonds. For net interest, multiply the interest by (1 - rate).
Can I use this calculator for mortgages?
Loans typically use the French amortization method (compounded interest with constant rates), not simple interest. This calculator is more suitable for deposits, bots, short-term loans or educational calculations.
