Break-even Calculator
Calculate how many units you need to sell in order to break even. Analyze the contribution margin and plan for profitability of your business.
Cost Structure
Break-Even Point (units) = Fixed Costs / (Price – Variable Costs). Break-even point revenue = break even point x Price.
Insert fixed costs, price and variable cost to calculate the breakeven point.
Come utilizzare Calcolatore Break-Even
Inserisci i costi fissi totali
Suggerimenti
Domande frequenti
What is the contribution margin?
Contribution Margin (CM) is the difference between price and variable cost per unit: CM = Price - Variable Cost. It indicates how much each sold unit "contributes" to cover fixed costs. The CM ratio is the CM expressed as a percentage of the price.
How is BEP used to determine price?
If your Break-Even Point (BEP) is too high (e.g., 10,000 units but selling only 3,000 per month), you need to increase prices, reduce variable costs, reduce fixed costs, or find a mix of all three. The BEP gives you a concrete goal: reach it and every additional unit is profit.
Do fixed costs ever change?
Fixed costs are only short-term: in the long run or with increasing volume, even fixed costs grow (larger space rental, new staff, etc.). The BEP analysis is more accurate for time horizons of 6-18 months.
How do I calculate BEP for multiple products?
Concise product usage - use the "weighted average contribution margin": weighted average of each product's CM based on expected sales mix. Multiply each CM by its corresponding sales percentage and sum the results. BEP = Fixed Costs / Weighted Average Contribution Margin.
